The parable of the talents is about your worth or value in the Kingdom of God,
(Luke 19: 12- 27).
The world in which we live in today teaches us not waste our time on unprofitable things, it uses phrases, like time is money, you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours, money talks and so forth.
Many of us fail to realise that Jesus expects us not to just sit around and do nothing or to do things that are unprofitable to the futherance of the gospel or the building up of the Kingdom.
I often stand amaze when I speak to many Christians that they do not know their purpose for being in the Kingdom. Many think that they are saved from going to hell and are just contended with the fact that they and their families are saved.
Jesus Himself was very clear about his purpose here on earth and did not waste His time with things that did not glorify the Father. This we can read in (Matt. 7.6 ) when he said,
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rent you.”
God’s purose for man is to rule the earth.
Man is meant to be everything that God is in heaven here on earth.
When God commanded Adam and Eve to take dominion, He was giving them the Ok to be like Him, and represent Him here on earth, but they never understood that and went wrong.
The apostle Paul said something very powerful as he made his petition in prayer for the Ephesians. ( Ephes. 1: 17-18) He prayed,
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ , the Father of glory,
may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inhertance in the saints”.
We can not live any how in the Kingdom. There is nothing wrong in having fun in the Kingdom, we must be able to relax and enjoy the works of our hands and we also know that the joy of the Lord is our strength.
It is not necessary to walk around looking sour and miserable, but is important to understand the purpose of being in the Kingdom of God and to broadcast the coming of Jesus Christ and His rulership where-ever we go.
God expects us to work in the Kingdom and we will be rewarded for our efforts.
